AVP HISTORY

American Valuation Partners was created in 2009 as an offshoot of former Mundy Associates senior personnel after the selling of the firm. Senior personnel including Ron Throupe (Director of Operations)Vicki Adams (Senior Analyst)Andy Krause (Senior Analyst) and Bill Mundy (former owner) along with other specialized experts joined forces to provide comprehensive services and a deeper expertise of issues and support to their clients. What was created is a group of senior personnel that can respond to clients, support each other in litigation and provide specialized talents to cases. The firm has economists, valuation experts, survey experts, development and feasibility experts, GIS mapping experts, modeling experts, all with litigation backgrounds, publications history, Daubert proofed.

AVP’s vast contact set and affiliations give them the ability to bring in vetted specialists when needed to perform specific roles. Their motto of “creating relationships with value” was developed with the client in mind and the desire to create more than one case histories with law firms and real estate clients.

WHY AVP

  1. AVP affiliated with Valbridge Partners in 2016 to provide local expertise and support to litigation work performed by AVP across the US. Valbridge has over 40 offices and provides AVP working space, local market information and knowledge and solves any USPAP geographic knowledge claims that may be attempted.
  2. AVP members have been the lead expert on highly publicized cases in the US and world. AVP was the lead real estate experts in the BP oil case, hired by the Plaintiff litigation group after extensive interviews, competing with leading valuation experts. Many claim they touched the BP case, but it is AVP who were the lead experts and the team behind the now 9.2 billion dollar settlement.
  3. The vast experience on complex valuation and litigation gives more insight to unique situations and lessons learned.
  4. The ability to bring multiple experts to vet issues as they unfold.
  5. The variety of expertise with one group means that AVP senior members are directly involved in all aspects of the project as opposed to firm which may use junior staff or third-parties to fill knowledge and skill gaps..
  6. The senior personal are doing the project with others on a collaborative effort to attain maximum results. Do not be fooled by those who are not deep in the project, but rather a cursory supervisor who only preps for litigation. This is dangerous for all when details and motivations for decisions are not well understood leading to unsupportable claims in deposition. All this comes to light when the billing statements are revealed in discovery.
  7. Ability to have rebuttal experts available in house as needed. So the testifying expert is not doing the rebuttal write-up and coming off as bias to a jury.
  8. Ability to have nationally known senior staff, that do not sign a particular report, available for deposition support without being exposed to deposition.
  9. Experts in multiple methods, and published in those methods.  Means we have a group of experts that are Daubert proof.
    1. The ability to strategize and consult along the way with the client, not just a backend appraisal.
    2. The ability to deliver quality and credibility, support and strategy.
    3. Communicate on an on-going basis with clients. To keep abreast of decision processes and strategies.
    4. Ability to have rebuttal experts available in house as needed. So the testifying expert is not doing the rebuttal write-up and coming off as bias to a jury.

    2. Deliver work products without breaking the bank.   The idea is not to work cheap but smart. This includes guiding clients on the pros and cons of methods, costs and level of confidence of choices.
    3. Senior billing rates are slightly lower than other firms, why? We are more hands on, so we know the details and reasoning, not just learning the case results to testify. But we know hands on costs more otherwise.
    4. We expect our clients to communicate so all can avoid problems and anticipate needs.  We vet our clients just as like they vet AVP.
