Theodore Lane, Ph.D. is a professional economist whose career has spanned over four decades of distinguished achievement in his field. His expertise in a very broad variety of economic research matters has taken him all across the United States, from Alaska and the Pacific Northwest to Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
Since 1986, Dr. Lane has been a Principal with Thomas/Lane and Associates, economic and public policy consultants, with offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Seattle, Washington. Thomas/Lane and Associates is a national leader in applying economic research methods to public policy analysis. They have consulted with a large number of public sector clients at both the legislative and the executive level, including federal, state, county, city, commonwealth, special purpose and tribal governments. Their vast portfolio of expertise covers four broad public policy areas: transportation, housing, economics, and feasibility and impact studies. In the area of Real Estate, Dr. Lane and his firm's assignments have included feasibility studies, advising on the highest and best use of commercial properties, a determination of the economic impact of EIS, market research, evaluating rates of return on proposed investments and developments, and estimates of market absorption of different types of commercial properties and land development.
Dr. Lane holds an M.A. degree in economics from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington. During his career, he has been actively involved in higher education. He has held professorships at both the University of Wisconsin and the University of Alaska.
